: About

„I am always intrigued by strong characters in a combination of strong light and deep shadows, trying to isolate my subject in its environment. Also, mirrors and other reflections attract my attention. To combine all these elements into one single frame, this is my everyday pleasure.“

Paulus Ponizak, aka @iso.null30 (paul**), is a staff photographer for a German publishing house and is based in Berlin, Germany. He is specialised in portraiture and editorial photography. One of his passions is to document life in public places. He has been doing this, since the onset of his career, when he was a staff photographer for the news agency, Associated Press (AP). At the beginning of the nineties, he had the unique opportunity to capture history in the making: the end of the Cold War, West, and East Germany reunited and also covered stories in countries like the Balkans or South Africa.

He has been nominated in Miami Street Photography Festival in 2017 and 2018 with exposure during Art Basel including an exhibition at HistoryMiami's Museum for Photography. Also, the main exhibit in Milan, Italy at Street Photo Milano. He received the third place in London Street Photography Festival in 2018 in the category single photograph. Furthermore, numerous features and publications on Instagram, web and magazines such as Street Photography International, Burn My Eye, Life is Street, This Ain't Art School or Eyeshot Magazine.

In late 2016 he founded the photographic group and community interCollective - a dedicated space to showcase emerging talents as well as the established artist for excellent photographs in one place. Today the @interCollective Instagram page is a growing community and counts over 19.000 followers including 500 submissions every day via the hashtag #interCollective and in a total of 400.000 and growing.

interCollective partnered in mid-2018 with The Independent Photographer as a media partner to reach a wider audience.
